Should You Switch To Windows 7

Do You Really Wan To Switch To Windows 7?Okay, Windows 7 has been on the market for a few months and has been well received. There are good reviews and reviews all over the place. Ever mindful of Microsoft's problems with Windows ME and Windows Vista, you have a little unwillingness to take a plunge into the change over to Windows 7. Well, there are reasons why you should, but today I am here to give you reasons why you should not jump off into the deep end.

1. Stick with what you understand Each and every new OS comes with a learning curve. Occasionally that curve is gentle, sometimes it’s steep. By sticking with what you already understand, you could be bypassing the whole learning curve factor entirely!
2. Certainty Setting up a new OS is a step into the unknown in terms of hardware and software compatibility goes. If you perform your study you can lessen these unknowns, but you can in no way really remove them. Even with the best research and assessment, it’s likely that something in your hardware and software ecosystem won’t take kindly to the upgrade.
3. Cost While many folks like to hang on to the opinion that upgrading operating systems can save them money, in the real world this is rarely the situation. Not only will the OS upgrade itself set you back a few dollars for each system, but you then need to factor in additional costs (basically, substitutes for everything that ends up not working because of the upgrade).
4. XP is still recognized by Microsoft Microsoft will continue to offer what it calls extended support for Windows XP (running the latest Service Pack) up to April 2014. This indicates that you will still be able to get security updates for the operating system for years to come.
5. Developers still support XP Software developers still support XP, meaning you can still find and get updates for software you run on your XP system. Don't forget, the OS is just a platform for other software.
6. Upgrade modules to stay secure! Instead of upgrading your entire operating system in the hope that you'll also be more secure, upgrade outdated and obsolete software you have installed on your OS as an alternative. Secunia PSI is a fantastic piece of software for digging out susceptible software that is hidden on your systems.
7. Do you truly need to upgrade? Think about it. Exactly what are you really losing by not upgrading? Once again, although the sales materials for Windows 7 appears good, you need to think about how those new functions will translate into value for money on the on your bottom line.

Now that I think about it, I cold provide yo with numerous reasons for switching or for buying an Apple.  Both sides of most any arguement can be discussed and sound logical.  As for me, I am not switching my old systems to Win 7 but any new ones I buy will have it.
